First Brave Flowers
Watercolour and pen on watercolour paper. I had hoped to finish in a blaze of glory but instead, fittingly, #70 is like most of the other 69 - a rather ad hoc effort, which I nevertheless enjoyed. This is from a picture I took of a spot in my garden on March 16. I stumbled across these brave little maroon flowers, which look like miniature irises, surrounded by various weird colours of oregon grape leaves and interspersed with a few tulip leaves. I delude myself when I start that composition doesn't matter, that it's just a miscellaneous flurry of late-winter foliage, but of course the result lacks focus! Good for me for doing all 70, and it's been great to create some happy messes in my artroom this winter.
