Making Jam
I took a wider carving blade and carved lines over the whole shrubbery area which before had been confusingly busy. I think this is a great improvement, and I'm very happy about this print. Applied some of the lessons I'd learned - brayered out the ink on the palette first and then applied to the lino, tried for a medium amount of ink, and used smooth cardstock, then rubbed for a long time to be sure the ink was transferring evenly.
Ditto for all the above techniques and again, achieved my best result so far. Applying the ink evenly would be my next practise. It is so thick and sometimes I think I over-apply, maybe removing ink from some spots like Grandma's apron and the top of Kathy's back. Nevertheless, I feel proud and happy!
These are the linocuts themselves, washed. I like the antique-y look, and it reminds me that I should pull some prints on a cream or beige-y cardstock.
